The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is an autonomous organization that follows Central government regulations. In 2020, AIIMS introduced the Common Eligibility Test, known as AIIMS NORCET, for the first time. This test is specifically for selected AIIMS institutes in India for the nursing officer entrance examination.

The Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) is conducted for nursing students aspiring to become nursing officers. According to previous statistical data, around 1 lakh nursing students appear for this entrance exam every year. The AIIMS NORCET scheme shortlists candidates based on a merit list and places them in any of the AIIMS institutions under NORCET for filling vacancies within a year.

Q. Scheme of AIIMS NORCET Examination?
The AIIMS NORCET exam is administered in an online Computer Based Test (CBT) format with 200 multiple-choice questions. Each question is worth one mark, and there is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for every incorrect response. The exam will last for a duration of 3 hours (180 minutes).

Q. What will happen if more than one candidate secures equal marks?
If multiple candidates secure the same marks, the tiebreaker will be determined by:
(i) Considering the candidates' date of birth, with the older candidate given preference.
(ii) If the tie persists after considering date of birth, then the number of wrong answers/negative marks will be taken into account. Candidates with fewer wrong answers/negative marks will be ranked higher.
