In September 2013, a pioneering group of sixty students embarked on their journey through the corridors of the AIIMS- All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhubaneswar College of Nursing, marking the humble beginnings of the institution. Dedicated faculty and staff at the College of Nursing have tirelessly nurtured young minds, upholding the esteemed legacy of their profession.

The construction of the College of Nursing at AIIMS Bhubaneswar was made possible through the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), ensuring that even underserved states could avail themselves of affordable, high-quality nursing education.

Since its inception, the institution has made remarkable strides, evolving into one of the most reputable colleges equipped with cutting-edge classrooms, laboratories, and clinical training facilities.

Admission to AIIMS, New Delhi, entails clearing a rigorous all-India entrance examination, with classes commencing annually in August. Upon admission, students undergo rigorous academic and practical training, preparing them to navigate the intricacies of the nation's healthcare system.

The achievements of an institution are reflective of its stature. In August 2017, the first cohort of nursing students completed their B.Sc. (Hons.) course, now flourishing in diverse roles nationwide and abroad.

August 2018 marked another significant milestone with the commencement of the M.Sc. nursing course at the College of Nursing, offering specialized streams including Medical-Surgical Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing, and Pediatric Nursing.

In a commitment to inclusivity, the 2020–21 academic year saw a commendable initiative with the addition of 10% more seats for individuals from low-income families in the B.Sc. (Hons.) nursing program, totalling 75 seats, along with an increase of 25 seats in the M.Sc. nursing program.
