Q. I want to apply for BSc Nursing course in Armed Forces. What is the eligibility for that?

Following are the eligibility conditions-

The female candidate either unmarried/divorcee/legally separated/widow without encumbrances.

Must be Indian National

Age: To be born between 01 Oct 1994 to 30 Sep 2002 (both dates inclusive for the current year)

The candidate must have passed in first attempt class- 12th or equivalent with subjects- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English with not less than 50 % aggregate marks as a regular student from recognized board/ university/body. However, the final year appearing candidates in the current academic year may apply provisionally.

Note: The candidates will have to submit the proof of passing the qualifying examination before joining the course.

Q. What are the required physical standards for joining this program?

Answer: Minimum Height: 148cm (relaxed with 5cm in case of candidates from NE region)

The joining candidates will require X-ray examination of the chest and USG (of pelvis and abdomen) to be done

Q. What are the enclosures with the application form?

Matric/Equivalent certificate for Date of Birth.

Mark Sheet of Senior Secondary or equivalent exam.

For the appearing candidates in the qualifying exam, a certificate from the principal of the school/junior college is required mentioning the science stream subjects students have opted- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as elective.

For SC/ST Candidates, Caste certificate is required.

If the student has taken the gap between X and XII for more than two years then a gap certificate will be required from the school principal mentioning that the student has passed the qualifying examination in the first attempt with the science stream subjects as required.

Three copies of Admit card on A4 size paper with passport size photo (without attestation), duly pasted on the space provided. Failed to comply this required will lead to rejection of the application.

Three good quality self-addressed envelope of size 28 cms x 12 cms with postal stamp of Rs 7 (seven only) affixed.

In the case of an employed candidate, No Objection certificate is required from the present employer.

In the case of Widow Candidate, an affidavit is required stating you as issueless.

In the case of Divorcee, legal documents and an affidavit is required stating that the matter is not under consideration with the higher court.
On application and Admit card, recent Identical photos should be pasted, not stapled.

Q. Will I have to go through any sort of medical examination before selection?

Yes, to declare you a fit or unfit candidate, Special Medical Board will take a medical examination of you.

Q. Is there any procedure to repeal the decision of the medical board? If yes, what is the procedure to do that?

Yes, there is a provision of repeal. Candidates declared fit/unfit will be informed by the Presiding officer of Medical Board including the procedure for repealing/reviewing the decision of the medical board.

Q. Is there any bond to serve MNS?

On successful completion of Nursing training, the selected candidates will have to put up a mandatory bond to serve Military Nursing Service (MNS) for five years.

Q. I am a candidate with Nepal Nationality but done my studies in India. Am I eligible to apply for this?

The eligibility condition is Indian National only. It cannot be relaxed in any circumstances.

Q. When should the required docs be produced?

All the required documents should be submitted before joining the course, not at the later stage.

Q. Will there be any written test for entrance? What will be the syllabus?

Yes! The objective type written test for Military Nursing Service Exam comprised of 150 questions. The knowledge of the candidates will be tested on-General English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and General Intelligence.

Q. What are the criteria of merit list?

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in written test and interview both, subject to medical fitness and seat available in each college.

Q. What are the cases when the application may face rejection?

In case of an incomplete application, more than one application, non-payment of the application processing fee, documents not attached and not meeting any other prescribed condition given, the application will get rejected.

Q. When will the commission be offered to me?

Subsequent to passing the final year university exam for B.Sc. Nursing Course, the candidate will be offered a commission in Military Nursing Service, subject to medical fitness.
