Q. I want to apply for BSc Nursing Program with PGIMER Chandigarh. When can I apply?

Admission to BSc Nursing in PGIMER Chandigarh is made once in a year. The notification for that comes up on the website of PGIMER Chandigarh usually in the month of June every year. Candidates are advised to keep visiting the website during that time period.

Q. What is the eligibility for the BSc Nursing Course in PGIMER?

Eligibility Criteria: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English or any other examination with at least 50 % Marks. However, The Age Limit for the current year should be not more than 25 years and not less than 17 years in the current year.

Q. I am waiting for the result of my 10+2 exam. Can I apply for BSc Nursing course in PGIMER?

Yes, candidates appearing in 10+2 examination can also apply for the course but the admit card will be issued if they provide the passing certificate/ Mark sheet of 10+2 exam at least 10 days before the commencement of entrance exam from their respective boards. Q. What will be the exam pattern & syllabus for the written exam for admission into BSc Nursing Course in PGI Chandigarh?

Written BSc Nursing Entrance test will be of 100 marks, objective type and conducted in English Language only. Following are the subjects where knowledge is to be tested for BSc Nursing Exam-

Q. Will there be any negative marking in the BSc Nursing written test of PGIMER?

Yes, there will be one fourth 0.25 negative marking for each wrong answer. However, for not-answered or un-attempted question no mark will be deducted.

Q. I am from Bangladesh. What are the criteria for admission for Foreign Nationals to apply for the BSc Nursing course?

Following are the criteria of applying for BSc Nursing Course for Foreign Nationals at PGIMER Chandigarh-

Foreign nationals should also fill in the prescribed application form online.

Foreign candidates are required to take the print out of the filled online application form and route their applications along with necessary documents through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi and it should reach by the prescribed date.

They have to obtain eligibility certificate from Registrar, PGIMER, Chandigarh & clearance regarding professional qualification from the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and submit it along with the application form.

The online application form will be treated as an advance copy.

However, application of such candidates will be processed after receipt of the same through diplomatic channels. These candidates are also required to appear in the entrance examination along with other candidates.

Q. What are the criteria for making a selection to BSc Nursing Course at PGIMER Chandigarh?

1 The selection will be made strictly in order of merit of the candidates in the respective merit lists of entrance test.

2 Overall rank of all the candidates shall be decided based on percentile scores, with a higher percentile score translating into a better rank.

3 An overall merit list based on the percentile obtained by all the candidates appearing in the examination in the theory examination (irrespective of their category) will be prepared. Candidates of various categories, who secure percentile in the theory examination, as mentioned against each category, will qualify for admission:

General category: 50th percentile

SC/ST/OBC & PWD: 45th percentile

In the matter of selection, the decision of the Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh shall be final.

Q. I have given the written test. Now, what will be the next procedure if I qualify for Interview/counselling?

Based on the marks obtained in written test, a merit list will be prepared. Candidates will be invited for interview/counselling strictly in order of merit in the respective merit lists based on the marks obtained by them in the entrance examination. The number of candidates to be called for the interview/counselling will be three times the total number of seats to be filled in each category from candidates who fulfil the cut off points. It is compulsory for these candidates to attend the interview/counselling.

Q. Will there be any medical fitness examination for the course?

Medical fitness will be pre-condition for registration for all candidates. The candidates will be medically examined by a Medical Board, constituted by the Institute for the purpose to determine their medical fitness.

Q. Is there any bond to be signed with PGIMER Chandigarh?

Students are required to execute a bond to serve the PGIMER, Chandigarh and other Central Govt. Institutions only for a period of three years if offered a job within six months by any of the above-mentioned institutes after the completion of the training.  Otherwise, this condition will become inoperative after six months of the completion of the training.

Q. Is there any scope of entry of Male candidates into this course?

BSc Nursing course at PGIMER Chandigarh is strictly meant for Female candidates only. Male candidates are not supposed to apply for this.
