ESIC Hospital, Chandigarh (ISO: 9001:2015 certified), is a part of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation's (Ministry of Labour, Government of India) extensive network of 36 hospitals nationwide. It provides top-tier medical facilities under one roof, with a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and paramedics. The hospital has a 70-bed capacity and serves approximately 7 lakh beneficiaries. It is also connected to two dispensaries and caters to patients from nearby cities in Punjab and Haryana.

ACCESSIBILITY:

The hospital is well-connected by road and rail. Directional signboards for various departments and facilities are displayed at the hospital's main entrance, OPD block, and other strategic locations. Registration and admission counters and a dedicated enquiry counter (MAY I HELP YOU Desk) are centrally located near the emergency department.

ADMINISTRATION:

The hospital is managed by a well-trained and experienced team headed by the Medical Superintendent, supported by an Assistant Nursing Superintendent, Assistant Director (Administration), and Assistant Director (Finance). The respective Specialist or Head of Department oversees each specialty.

HOSPITAL INFRASTRUCTURE:

The hospital operates on the ground and first floors, with a fully functional HDU, operation theatres, male and female wards, labour room, nursery, triage, and emergency department. Additional facilities include a main OPD registration counter, help-desk, canteen, plaster room, pharmacy store-cum-distribution counter, CSSD, oxygen manifold room, security cabin, integrated counselling and testing centre for HIV/AIDS (ICTC), medical stores, non-medical store, diesel generator set, electricity transformers section, solar panel, ETP/STP, housekeeping office unit, and parking for IPs and staff.

The hospital features several departments, including Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Medicine, Dentistry, Surgery, Orthopedics, Radiology, Pathology and Lab Medicine, Anaesthesia, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Yoga & Recreation Club Room, and Library & Medical Record Room. The administrative section comprises offices for the Medical Superintendent, Assistant Director of Administration, Assistant Director of Finance, administrative staff, PA to MS, and a conference hall.

The hospital has 70 fully commissioned beds.

STANDARDS FOR SERVICE:

The hospital is exclusively for ESI cardholders (insured persons and their dependents). The accident and emergency department, radiology, laboratory, labour room, OT, ECG, and plaster services operate 24/7. The hospital aims to provide prompt and courteous attention to all beneficiaries.

Registration timings:

Monday to Friday: 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.

Saturdays: 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

All OPD departments are located on the ground floor. Patients seeking treatment must produce a referral cum treatment slip issued by their respective dispensary with a proper insurance number. Online appointments with specific doctors or OPDs can be booked through an online portal or app. Senior citizens are given priority registration through a separate queue. The hospital regularly performs laparoscopic surgeries and joint replacement surgeries. Immunizations are conducted daily in room no 19, and family welfare services, including contraceptive, IUD, and sterilization services, are available daily.

INDOOR TREATMENT:

Patients are admitted for indoor treatment from the OPD and Accident & Emergency department through a centralized admission-cum-enquiry counter. Medicines and diet are provided to all indoor patients, and an attendant pass is given to attendants of severe patients. Visitors are allowed only during specified hours. The hospital has arrangements for super-specialty investigations at empaneled institutions.
